Sunday morning in Fort Worth, a one vehicle collision caused six people to die at 2:00 a.m. – when the nearby bars were closing – on Northside Drive. A truck speeding out of control failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a tree. Even a homeless man died. And this heartbreaking story was not even the only fatal DWI crash in DFW that day.
Later that evening, a 17-year-old passenger in a masssive car wreck went into labor and delivered a stillborn child. Her driver was speeding on Great Southwest Parkway when he blew through a red light and crashed into a pickup truck. That driver and his two passengers who were in their 70s were seriously injured. What makes this story even more maddening is that the car driver, who was only 17, was driving while intoxicated and didn’t even have a driver’s license.
What is going on out there?
We extend our sincerest sympathies to the victims’ families. We hope that news of senseless collisions like these spreads so that people considering drinking while driving decide that it is not worth the risk – to themselves or others.
We do not need another DWI crash in DFW
These two tragedies follow on the heels of a double homicide caused by a drunk driver in Oak Cliff several weeks ago. Incredibly, it was his third DWI. This time the victims were a former Dallas City Council member and her daughter.
The list goes on and on. We have far too many of these easily preventable collisions in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Last year, there were about 5,000 DWI crashes in the four counties that comprise the core of the Metroplex. Tragically, 90 people lost their lives in our area.
These numbers add up quickly. In the state of Texas, 618 people died in a DWI collision last year.
This epidemic has to be stopped.
Berenson Injury Law proudly supports Mothers Against Drunk Driving
This is the reason that Bill Berenson has been a proud supporter of MADD for many years. He was asked to serve on the advisory Board of Directors for the North Texas region and is the only member from outside of Dallas.
Bill is the Champion Sponsor of its upcoming Walk Like MADD on September 7th. He has also donated money for the fastest male and female runners in the 5K run for those under 40 and over 40 years old to increase attendance. Please join us to walk or run. You can register here.
Bill raises funds and awareness of the horrors of DWIs and files lawsuits and claims on behalf of those injured in crashes caused by drunk drivers. He advocates for stronger law enforcement and tougher laws so that our roads and highways can be safer for all of us.
A good Fort Worth car wreck lawyer can help you
If you have been in a car, truck, 18-wheeler, motorcycle, bicycle, or pedestrian collision that was caused by someone else and you were injured, you may be trying to decide if hiring a personal injury lawyer is worth it. Yes, without a doubt. Here’s why.
First, you won’t know what to do. Tracking down the police report, photographs, eyewitness statements, insurance information, and other critical evidence must be done quickly. Without these items, you do not have a case.
Then then you will have to deal with difficult insurance company adjusters who will not treat you seriously if you have not hired an injury attorney. They are not going to give you the money for your medical bills, pain and suffering, lost wages, disability, and vehicle damage that you want. Just the opposite. They will play games with you to deny or delay your claim or make you file a lawsuit and take your case to court.
We’ve written on this subject many times on this blog including here:
If you hire the best car accident lawyer you can find, you will prevail.
At Berenson Injury Law, we have represented thousands of people in crashes just like you. We know what to do.
From the first moment, you will see that we can get you the results that you want and do everything so you can focus on healing and getting your life back to where it was before the horrible crash.
Berenson Injury Law has unfortunately had to get involved with a lot of car crashes – you can’t call them car accidents — over the past nearly 40 years.
Many have involved a guy (usually) who got drunk, jumped into his car or truck, and collided into another car(s), often at a high rate of speed.
We have seen just how devastating the results can be, like in these two terrible stories here.
While we are almost always able to get good settlements or jury verdicts for the victims of these senseless crashes, no one would prefer to receive this financial compensation if they could have avoided being in the collision in the first place.
We hope that this shines a spotlight about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. We do not need another DWI crash in DFW.
Please contact us by clicking here or by calling us at 1-888-801-8585 if you have any questions about any car or truck wreck that you have been in. We will fight to get you the compensation you deserve.
