Memorial Day festivities took a tragic turn for several North Texas families when they learned their loved ones had died in three collisions throughout the area. Police are still investigating the causes of fatal vehicular crashes that occurred in various towns surrounding Dallas – Fort Worth. The torrential rain was a clearly a factor in at least one of the accidents.
Red Oak Crash Leaves Three Young Men Dead
A Jeep t-boned a Ford F250 at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 664 and Batchler Road early at 1:15 Saturday morning. The Jeep did not have its headlights on and blazed through a stop sign, striking the F250. The driver of the jeep, 19-year-old Juan Mancilla, and his brother, 21-year-old Jose Mancilla, died at the crash site. The driver of the F250, 19 year-old Ethan Wood, also died at the scene. His passenger, Hunter Manley, was taken to a Dallas hospital with serious injuries. Neither occupant of the jeep was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Hydroplaning Causes Fatal Rollover Truck Crash in Hurst
Three people were killed when their pick-up truck flipped off a Loop 820 bridge in Hurst on Saturday morning. Witnesses said the truck hydroplaned into another vehicle, pushing it into a guardrail, then careened over the guardrail onto the street below the bridge. Several motorists ran to help the occupants of the truck, which had landed on its roof, but were unable to move the vehicle. One woman and two men were pronounced dead at the scene of the tragic accident. The crash is still under investigation, but Hurst police suspect rain was to blame.
Motorcyclist Killed in Dallas Accident
A motorcyclist died and another was injured when they ran into a car that had previously crashed on Sunday morning. A woman crashed her Nissan Sentra on the North Tollway near the President George Bush Turnpike at around 5:00 a.m. The motorcyclists were unable to stop in time as they approached the upside down vehicle. The operator of a Kawasaki motorcycle died at the scene and the operator of a Honda motorcycle suffered serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan was also seriously injured in the crash.
