The 2013 Cowtown C.A.L.F. (Children’s Activities for Life & Fitness) Run will be held on Saturday, September 28th at the Coyote Drive-In Theater in Fort Worth.
The start time for the 1-mile run will be 7:30am and the start time for the 5K will be at 8:00 a.m. An awards presentation will be held following the 5K race. The Coyote Drive-In Theater venue will provide an exciting start and finish for the runners, including scenic views of the city skyline and running along the Trinity River Trail. Post-race activities will be hosted inside the Coyote Drive-In’s pavilion.
The Cowtown CALF run is excited to again partner with the FitWorth Healthy City Initiative. This year, post-race activities will include the FitWorth Healthy Culinary Creations Challenge. Twelve area high school culinary arts teams representing three local school districts will create recipes following set healthy nutritional guidelines.
Mayor Betsy Price commented that “I am so thrilled that FitWorth will be partnering again with CALF. What better way to launch our Culinary Cooking competition! I can’t wait to see what they come up with!”
The CALF program had more than 70 schools and community centers participate in The Cowtown Kids 5K in February.
The program, which is the primary charitable beneficiary of The Cowtown race weekend, is the top children’s running activity in the nation. CALF supports educational assemblies, pedometers and training logs to help educate children on the benefits of an active lifestyle, as well as running shoes and race entry grants for children who cannot afford them. The program is guided by a volunteer council consisting of coaches, physicians, Cowtown board members and community leaders.
The Cowtown CALF Race is presented by Berenson Injury Law.
