Collision With an 18 Wheeler? Do These Things!

If you have been in an accident with an 18-wheeler, the trucking company is already working to limit the amount of money it will have to pay to injured drivers. It has probably already sent claims adjusters, accident investigators, and even attorneys to the scene to collect (and possibly hide) evidence, coach its driver, and talk to the police.

My job is to get you the maximum compensation for your damages. I know how to do this. I’ve been handling truck collision cases successfully for over 32 years here in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

To get the case off to a good start, here are some useful tips you should know in the unfortunate event that you are

involved in a collision with a tractor trailer or other commercial vehicle, and most are applicable to a crash with another automobile:

1. Do not talk to the 18-wheeler driver, trucking company, or insurance company representative.

2. Write down all details about the collision including license plate numbers, company name, USDOT and TXDOT numbers, other driver’s license number and identifying information, police officer’s name and badge number, eyewitness names and identifying information, anything you hear said, etc.

3. Take photos of all property damage and bodily injuries.

4. Speak to the police officer investigating the collision and tell him how the crash happened. His investigation and report are important. But I have won cases when the police report was unfavorable; this often happens if my client was already rushed by ambulance to the emergency room and did not get to talk to the police officer.

5. Seek medical treatment immediately if you are injured.

6. Do not discuss the collision on FaceBook, Twitter, or any other social media. Be wary of who you share details with, including people who call you on the phone.

7. Hire an experienced board certified injury lawyer as soon as possible. I have helped accident victims throughout the United States, and I can help you and your family.
