Five people were killed in motorcycle crashes just in the last two days — and just in Fort Worth. Carlius Johnson, Lylian Berry, Jr., Shymill Murphy, Jeremy Williamson, and Noemi Mendoza tragically lost their lives. My thoughts go out to the families of the deceased.
I’ve represented many motorcycle riders and their families over the past 33 years. I’ve ridden motorcycles. I understand the dangers riding on roads, have taken depositions and tried cases against auto and truck drivers, and know how to get the maximum amount of money for these injury cases.
Many collisions occur at intersections when another vehicle fails to yield the right of way to the biker in an attempt to beat it. The biker has only a split second to lay down his bike (and hopefully not get run over), swerve (and try not to get hit by another car), or crash into the other vehicle.
The result can be serious –and often fatal. Motorcycle riders were 30 times more likely to die in a crash than other drivers. In the U.S., there were 4,502 deaths and 82,000 people injured in 2010 bike crashes. Far too many (279)Texans riding motorcycles died that year.
Motorcycle accidents can easily lead to surgeries, huge medical bills, lost wages and job termination, financial hardship, physical pain and emotional stress. An experienced motorcycle injury lawyer knows the laws and claims process and can successfully represent you against the other driver and his insurance company.
